The Return of a Mid-90s Runner – The Asics GEL-DS Trainer OG

The ASICS GEL-DS TRAINER OG is the welcome return of an ASICS runner silhouette that has not been seen since it debuted back in 1995.

The GEL-DS Trainer has continued on from its mid-90s introduction, even becoming a fan favourite over the years, but this is the first time we can enjoy the original’s true mid-90s design. ASICS fans will see that the training shoe isn’t too dissimilar to the GEL-Kayano, albeit it is a little on the lighter side, as it was designed for serious, high mileage runners. As such, the silhouette uses the lighter DUOSOLE outsole that produces exceptional grip and flexibility. Fans of the Kayano will surely take to the familiar retro aesthetic that has been packed with modern features, including a neoprene bootie construction, large ASICS side stripes, and a chunky GEL cushioned sole. The GEL-DS Trainer makes its return in two colorways: the original white-based version with black and dark teal accents, as well as an all-new black, pink, and turquoise color combination. Like all our favourite retro runners, this casual trainer effortlessly blends an old school design with modern tech, breathing new life into it and ensuring its relevance for a contemporary crowd.
