THE ÉS ACCELITE, ACCELERATE AND ACCENT

Still buzzing from the news that éS are back, we’ve heard that the three (re)introductory models – THE ÉS ACCELITE, ACCELERATE and ACCENT – have landed in the UK this week!

It’s hard to define the impact that éS made on the skate industry: aside from releasing some of the best skate shoes ever designed, their team, media and overall brand aesthetic beats almost all competitors into the ground. Dig out the seminal Menikmati video from 2000 for a refresher on just how well-rounded their team was or check out their various tour videos from over the years to see just how far across the globe the brand was respected and loved.

These three introductory models continue the groundbreaking design and construction that we’ve witnessed over the years and we can’t think of a stronger set of shoes to get people reacquainted with éS. The shoes are all based upon the much-loved ACCEL model from the archives, but with completely different results on each one.

First up, the ÉS ACCELITE is focused on comfort and, in our opinion, is a succesful effort to bridge the gap between skate performance and lifestyle. It’s got the stylings of a running shoe, but with enough skate DNA engrained to make it appeal to the core skate market. Dig under the icy red top layers and you’ll find the STI Foam Lite 2 Ortholite footbed, Lycra tongue straps and a number of reinforcements and details cleverly concealed.

Next up is the ÉS ACCELERATE, with its sights set on providing unbeatable board feel and excellent durability. A quick look will tell you it’s got bullet-proof construction throughout, but take a closer look and you’ll notice the Lycra tongue, one-piece toe cap (to alleviate the stress of torn stitching) and slick contours. The ollie protection on here is second-to-none, mimicking the medial panel details of the original Accel model. The Thermo Plastic Urethane process that fuses this section with the upper suede provide excellent abrasion resistance. Clever and functional technology rarely looked so good.

The third of the trio is the ÉS ACCENT, which goes for a dressier appearance, with a long front section that keeps the laces out of harm’s way. That said, the wax laces on here look like they could hold up all kinds of abuse, and the whole shoe is covered in little details that far belie the simple appearance. The micro suede heel patch adds comfort to the inner lining collar and holds the heel firm, whilst the footbed features STI Foam Lite 2 Ortholite technology to protect your feet. We suggest that you ditch your deck shoes and try these out.

We recently caught up with Sole Tech (the umbrella company for Etnies, Emerica and éS) CEO and founder Pierre-André Senizergues for a chat and we’ll be posting that interview up for you very shortly. In the meantime, check out the ÉS ACCELITE, ACCELERATE & ACCENT models that can be found via the link-through below.
