The REEBOK X BAPE QUESTION MID sees the footwear brand and Japanese label combine once again, following their recent collaboration on the Instapump Fury.
In taking on the Question, NBA star Alan Iverson’s signature silhouette, BAPE has clad the upper in its distinctive camouflage motif, including khaki green accents and the Bapesta logo on leather panel that sits on the heel, as well as the shoe’s familiar Hexalite windows. The green is offset by contrasting white midsole, laces, lining and other detailing. It’s the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed basketball shoe, so Reebok has been busy releasing a series of heavy hitting collaborations, such as last month’s Sneakersnstuff luxe iteration. Back in 1996, the Question was designed by an artist who had been hired by Reebok, Scott Hewett. As the legend has it, Hewett wasn’t a basketball fan and had to be told who Iverson was, but that didn’t prevent him from creating what proved to be an enduringly popular signature line. Iverson was a rising star at the time and his fanbase helped elevate the silhouette’s status, although its clean, wearable design certainly helped make it a major hit, too. Other NBA stars to wear the shoe on-court include Kobe Bryant, Yao Ming and LeBron James – which as endorsements go, is pretty solid!
The REEBOK X BAPE QUESTION MID will be available this FRIDAY 23 DECEMBER. Click on the banner below for our release page with full details and stockist links.
