California meets Scandinavia for the Vault By Vans X Our Legacy Footwear Collection

The VAULT BY VANS X OUR LEGACY FOOTWEAR COLLECTION puts a luxe Scandinavian spin on ’90s Californian hardcore culture.

Swedish clothing brand Our Legacy are known for creating genuinely unusual yet very wearable garments instead of chasing trends, and this attitude is visible throughout the new collab collection of footwear (and apparel to match). The label’s unorthodox and subversive approach is a product of its founders’ youthful fascination with Californian skate culture, hardcore music and the DIY attitude of streetwear’s early years, all of which formed the inspiration for the range. It’s refreshing to see these ’90s subcultures get referenced by people who know their history: nowadays kids can skip between subcultures online in seconds, but back in the day you actually had to get involved to know what was going on…

The collection comprises 10 footwear options and 12 apparel pieces, all done up in a vivid colour palette of black, white and orange. The shoes are updated versions of four iconic Vans styles known for their strong skate and hardcore associations: the Half Cab Pro ’92 LX, Sk8-Mid Pro ’91 LX, Old Skool Pro ’92 LX and Authentic Pro LX. The focus here is on colour and texture, with hairy suede and military nylon offset by full grain Swedish leather sidestripes. The Half Cab and Authentic both come in white, black and orange, while the Old Skool and Sk8-Mid keep things monochrome with stark white and black treatments. All the styles boast custom footbeds and overdyed dual-branded labels to complement their deluxe construction.
