The rolling Sneaker Exchange project by adidas Consortium offers up something different by pairing together different retailers with the mission to co-design two pairs of limited-edition sneakers. As May rolls in, this month’s edition sees Australian retailer Sneakerboy paired up with Atlanta veterans WISH for a shot at the PureBOOST and an updated take on adidas’ early ‘00s ClimaCool mesh model.

The result is two pairs of perfectly executed trainers that fuse adidas’ knit technology with a completely new take on branding and detailing. And guess what, they’re inspired by the cube-shaped box jellyfish, which is considered to have one of the deadliest stings in the world. The designs took cues from the translucent and luminous glow that emits from the creature when in water, giving the PureBOOST’s sock-like build an all-over glow in the dark Primeknit construction, whilst the newly updated Climacool model gets a glow in the dark caging to hold the lacing in place.

Cutting-edge in both design and functionality, we think WISH and Sneakerboy get full marks on this one.
