Good news for Gel-Lyte fiends – the original model in ASICS Tiger’s classic running-inspired line has finally released been given its first-ever retro. A long time coming, the brand has primarily set its focus on re-releases of the ASICS GEL-Lyte III and GEL-Lyte V, yet this breath of fresh air is more than poised to steal the limelight this summer.

Making its way onto the shelves in the late ‘80s as the first running shoe with Gel cushioning, the Gel-Lyte is cut in a more traditional running shoe construction than its close cousins the III and Lyte V. Steering away from bootie cuts and split tongues, the Gel-Lyte OG represents its firm status as a definite precursor to these models. Crafted with a nylon mesh base across the uppers and contrasting overlays in felt and leather, the drop stays true to the silhouette’s original colour combinations, offering up either a black and orange or navy and yellow colourway.
