Concepts x Diadora N9000 Lire – A First Look

The CONCEPTS X DIADORA N9000 LIRE pays homage to the currency used in Italy before they switched to the Euro.

Borrowing its colourway from what was the 500,000 LIRE note, the upper sports a pale grey base, which is contrasted by light green overlays, muted blue at the heel and a subdued salmon pink on the tongue. There are two extra details on the upper that continue the nods to the old note: a holographic-inspired iridescent CONCEPTS branded tongue label and ‘500000’ featuring on the lateral side of the heel, in place of the more traditional N9000 logo. If all of this isn’t enough for you to see where the inspiration comes from, the CONCEPTS branded insoles sport a design that is made up of sections taken from the actual bank note. A predominantly white midsole keeps things clean down below, with a hit of pale yellow at the heel adding some detail, whilst the outsole is finished in grey, with another dash of pink at the toe rounding things off. This is a great homage to Italy’s old currency… and you can take that all the way to the bank!
