Going only on the information that we were to enjoy a ‘VIP music experience’, The Drop Date arrived at a bus stop off Old Street yesterday evening on the invitation of CONVERSE and their #SNEAKERSWOULD campaign.
The guerrilla-style campaign looks to reward spontaneity and adventurousness by offering free events and gigs to those who turn up at the drop of a hat. Indeed there seems to be many willing subjects—the queue of waiting hopefuls was multiple times the capacity of the minibus.
After cramming in we were whisked away to the Regent’s Canal and loaded onto a pair of barges blaring tunes and laden with beers and pizza, and yet still no word on our destination—even the captain was unaware. After a short cruise down to Hoxton Docks, we pulled up to find ourselves confronted with a full-on live performance from none other than the Mystery Jets. It was great to see the effort being made on-foot as well, with the majority of the crowd coming correct in Converse footwear. After the band finished the party continued on much longer than we care to remember, so thanks be to Converse for our sore heads this AM!
The brand behind the iconic Chuck Taylor most definitely made good on their promise to reward the faith of their disciples, and there’s still more to come. Download The Ticket App now via the link-through below for your chance to win one of many more spontaneous experience like this one!
