The Converse x Engineered Garments Collection Reinvents the Classic One Star

The CONVERSE x ENGINEERED GARMENTS ONE STAR collection makes the most of Daiki Suzuki’s talent for reinventing and reengineering classics. As the Founder and Creative Director of Engineered Garments, Suzuki uses this special collaboration to reflect on his own personal journey and relationship with Converse.

When Converse originally approached Suzuki with the opportunity to work together, he took time to consider the options. “Chuck Taylor, for us is a perfect shoe that we weren’t sure we could add or subtract to. It’s remained almost unchanged all this time. The One Star or rather the iterations after the Leather All Star was a canvas we thought could be mined to create something new,” Suzuki explains. “In attempting to create something new, we thought it would be best to start the relationship by revisiting the past and melding the first four (after that “Leather All Star”) models into one,” notes Suzuki. “Doing them all at once will have memories for some, seeing them come out when they did and for others it will be a lesson on how things can change subtly over time. For myself it represents my youth, memories I hold dear.”

The resulting collection communicates four different iterations of the classic One Star logo including the Star Chevron, Stars & Bars, and two variations for the customary star. Suzuki recalls a specific era for each style all representing silhouettes of his personal favourites from Converse. The Converse x Engineered Garments One Star collection is available in four premium leather colourways including Olive, Navy, White, and Black, each leather-lined with an Engineered Garments branded logo illustrated on the shoe’s sockliner. Each pair is housed in Engineered Garments premium packaging with tonal cotton laces.
