The DIAMOND SUPPLY x PUMA CLYDE is the first of two styles in this special capsule collaboration between the streetwear label and the classic sports brand.
Originally released way back in 1973, the PUMA Clyde was endorsed by New York Knicks player Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier: a legendary character both on and off the court. The Clyde signature shoe was firmly adopted by a wide range of fans, who found the low cut simple styling easy to wear in any situation. As a result, the shoe has found a wealth of fans across a wide variety of subcultures and scenes – including skateboarding. Whilst skaters wore a wide range of brands and models for many years, the early ’90s San Francisco skate scene (primarily the EMB crew) took to wearing Clydes, Baskets and various other classic low tops. They were relatively inexpensive at the time, well made and, most importantly, they looked good both on and off the board. Look back through any videos or magazines of the era and you’ll see just how common the PUMA Formstripe was in the skate scene.
PUMA & Diamond Supply pay homage to this era by bringing back the PUMA Clyde and decking it out in a full Diamond Supply uniform. The upper is constructed in premium soft suede leather in the signature Diamond Supply color, aruba blue (or Tiffany blue, if you feel that way inclined), contrasted with a black Formstripe that extends to the heel. The tongue is marked with dual branding that features the iconic diamond logo, whilst the insoles have been given the Diamond Supply treatment as well. The PUMA Clyde trademark grippy rubber sole remains reliable and durable, making it a good choice for skating… although perhaps these are just a bit too nice to destroy with your griptape.
The DIAMOND SUPPLY x PUMA CLYDE is due to release initially on BLACK FRIDAY 25 NOVEMBER at a number of retailers, followed by a wider release on SATURDAY 3 DECEMBER at other retailers, including END.. Click the banner below to check out their current PUMA selection.
