All Aboard the hanon x Diadora V7000 Midnight Express

The HANON X DIADORA V7000 MIDNIGHT EXPRESS is the third addition to the retailer’s “Saturday Special” series, and it may just be the best yet.

HANON dive into the archives to reinvent Diadora ‘90s running model, the V7000, for the third time, adding yet another solid addition to their “Saturday Special” theme, which harks back to the public transport service that ran for British football fans in the ‘80s. Italian style and brands also held dominance over sportswear during this period, which forms the collaboration’s strong aesthetic. And it’s not just loose chat either, with the shoe’s high-end appeal reflected in the premium Italian production and materials selected, including pig suede and kangaroo leather uppers, plus a Diadora side stripe in textured ostrich leather.

Adopting a toned down colour palette in comparison to its predecessors, this collaboration steps into the dark and takes inspiration from ’80s trains, particularly the InterCity sleeper, which travelled through the night. This takes shape on the shoe with a predominantly black upper, which is complemented with white detailing and reflective 3M strips. Effortlessly light in weight, the V7000 guarantees maximum foot support and comfort, retaining its original midsole with a double density EVA called D.D Lite.

And like all premium Italian sportswear,  it’s all in the finishing details. An all-over print dual branded insole adds an extra character, with the HANON flame logo taking shape on embroidered heel overlays and a perfectly executed screen print on the tongue patch. The shoe comes with three pairs of interchangeable laces in black, white and dark grey, with a branded box complete with dust bag.

The shoe is also accompanied by a limited track top that mirrors the collaboration’s black and white colourway, with dual branding to the chest and inner linings.

Heads up, you’ll have to make it up to the HANON store in Aberdeen to get your hands on these ones, so that sleeper train may just hold some significance.
