HEAD TO THE HILLS WITH NIKE BY YOU

The NIKE BY YOU ONLINE STUDIO is the place to head for some sports footwear with that personal touch.

We were kindly asked by NIKE to come up with unique colourway using the updated iD colour palette that features a plethora of bold colours and materials. Whilst we were thinking about inspiration for our shoe, we remembered the interesting genesis behind the iconic AIR MAX 95. The model’s creator, Sergio Lozano, had this to say when asked about the reasoning behind the design…

“I remembered something Tinker Hatfield used to always bring up while working on other projects, he would say, ‘Okay, so that’s a great design, but what’s your story?’” Inspiration for the 95 came to him one rainy day in Nike headquarters’ home of Beaverton, Oregon; “I was looking across the lake out into the trees and I began picturing the process of rain eroding the earth and thought it would be interesting if the perfect product was unearthed by erosion.” 

Taking this as a starting point we thought about how we could apply the outdoor inspiration of the 95 whilst maintaining it’s original colour blocking. Fortunately, the iD interface proved ample scope and options to achieve this. We retained the graduated upper of OG set of releases and layered a set of earthy colours over the top; with greens and browns representing the hills trees whilst the black is reminiscent of a lake at night. Everything combined into a colourway that we feel is an excellent remix of the idea, thought and the process. Came out nice, don’t you think?
