Created as an effort for eight creatives to express their love for Chicago and what Jordan Brand’s UNITE movement means to them, the latest 8×8 Collection is full of colour and imagination. CODY HUDSON, painter, sculptor and creative director, chooses orange and reimagines the star from the Chicago flag to emphasise his fascination with motion-inspired graphics. DREW THE BARBER, barber to the stars chooses brown and uses inspiration from old Chicago transit tokens from 1988 and his belief in the power of looking good. LYRICAL LEMONADE, a Chicago platform to highlight young musical talent, chooses pink and puts their logo on the Jordan Aerospace 720 with a reflective upper. Young designer SHEILA RASHID chooses purple and has created her own iteration of the Jordan 1 Mid with a bold purple and grey upper. Co-founded by Chance the Rapper, the SOCIALWORKS collection uses blue and aims to empower the youth through arts and education and brings a range of apparel with a compass logo to emphasise the wisdom gained from a lifetime spent in the city. The SUCCEZZ boutique uses yellow and recreates art seen on the yellow line of the metro. VIRGIL ABLOH opts for red, with his own iteration of the Jordan 5 and apparel provided with his signature Off-White aesthetic. Last but not least, THE WINGS ORGANISATION chooses green and the Air Jordan X Wings which features all eight colours of the transit line and is inspired by various meanings of grit and durability.
