It’s safe to say that the ‘sneaker convention’ scene has blown up recently – Crepe City has paved the way and shown that London can do it BIG – and other areas of the UK have taken up the mantle and kicked off their own events, with similar ones going down in Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol – all with a bit of local flavour thrown into the mix of good footwear, good people and good times. Now it’s Cardiff’s turn to represent with their seminal event, LACED, which goes down this SUNDAY 31.8.14.
Taking place at one of the city’s newest indoor skateparks, LACED has been set up to be a celebration of all things trainer-related – there’ll be displays of rare and collectible kicks, a fully booked selection of sellers and traders to help you add some fresh pairs to your crate, a killer line up of DJ’s, live acts and graf artists to entertain the crowd, a film room showing some classic sneaker-related movies, and fresh food and drink. The skate park will also be up and running if that’s your thing, along with the Red Bull mini velodrome – so there’s definitely something for everyone under the one roof. The aim of LACED is to bring together some like-minded people for a festival of footwear culture, so expect a laid-back friendly vibe with plenty to keep you entertained and involved whatever the weather! Easy to get to with free parking and just £2 entry, if you’re anywhere near Cardiff it would be criminal to miss it.
It all goes down this Sunday from midday at Spit & Sawdust Skatepark, CF23 9AF, and we’ll be there to check out the action and see who brings out their Sunday best!
