Mizuno Wave Rider 1 OG: On-Foot Shots

The re-release of the MIZUNO WAVE RIDER 1 OG finds the classic runner brought back for 2018, proving that great design is truly timeless.

High regarded as Japan’s most celebrated performance brand, Mizuno are back at the forefront again with this reissue of 1998’s iconic Wave Rider 1. Following last month’s Wave Rider 1 No Borders collaboration with mita sneakers, it’s clear to see that the strong shape of the original shoe still holds some serious cachet in 2018. Featuring a white dual-mesh and full grain leather upper on top, the lower half of the shoe offers a sturdy foundation for your foot, courtesy of the white midsole and black outsole. Mizuno’s signature Runbird logo appears in red on the toe box and heel counter and black on the quarter panel, outlined by gold stitching. For extra visibility when out and about, reflective piping is utilised along the lateral and medial sides of the shoe whilst the lace keepers pay tribute to the sneaker’s running heritage. Each pair comes in a reissued ‘90s shoebox filled with stickers detailing the shoe’s anatomy. An underrated icon, this is definitely one for the connoisseurs out there.
