New Balance 1500

The NEW BALANCE 1500 and new NEW BALANCE 1530 release this weekend, to mark the 1500 hitting its 30th anniversary this year. With this in mind, FOOTPATROL took to the streets for a photo shoot featuring these two new additions to the 1500 archive.

There’s no denying that the 1500 has made its presence felt throughout the past three decades. Originally launched as a premium running shoe in 1989, the 1500 was designed by the legendary Steven Smith: a much-respected footwear designer, responsible for many of our favourite shoes across a variety of different brands. The 1500 has stood the test of time well, as it remains to be one of the most respected footwear designs to still be in production. Each pair of 1500s is still handmade by the team of craftsmen and women at the New Balance factory in Flimby.

To mark the shoe’s 30th anniversary, New Balance have reissued the classic navy blue colourway of the original 1500 – and introduced a brand-new model, entitled the 1530. Regarded as a contemporary update to the classic 1500, the 1530 ticks all the right boxes without compromising the integrity of the original design. With the 1530 dropping in a reverse colour scheme to the OG 1500, the only problem we’ve got is deciding which of the two releases to get…

The NEW BALANCE 1500 and NEW BALANCE 1530 drop on SATURDAY 2 MARCH and will be available at FOOTPATROL via the banner below.
