Another 247 Drop on the Horizon as The New Balance 247 Sport Debuts Next Month

The NEW BALANCE 247 SPORT is a fresh take on the Boston-based brand’s newest silhouette, and will drop next month.

As The Drop Date revealed early in January, the creative team at New Balance looked to the past during the 247’s design process, taking many of the best parts from the brand’s most popular heritage models to fashion something quite new. For instance, the 247 combines an engineered mesh upper with a neoprene sock construction that offer the silhouette a performance trainer-inspired technical look, fit and feel. A reflective welded N logo, reflective collar strap and rubber ‘sport’ tongue label are all borrowed from the brand’s performance running blueprints – details which take this new iteration in a slightly different direction from the Luxe version unveiled earlier in the month.

Despite those cosmetic tweaks to the design, you will probably recognize the asymmetrical detail on the toe vamp, which is from the 1300; and the collar strap design is taken from the 574 and 576; while the 998 midsole is represented albeit in a sleeker and more lightweight form. One subtle but effective change is with the ‘N’ branding, which is tonal and embossed in the leather, imbuing the shoe with a slightly more formal vibe. Finally, the 247 Sport silhouette will be available in four colourways: orange, olive, black, and a black and white combo.
