New Balance MiUK Surplus Pack M991.5SP, M670SP and M576SP

The NEW BALANCE MiUK SURPLUS PACK celebrates the brand’s 110th anniversary, utilising surplus materials across several of NB’s most iconic models.

The concept behind the pack began in New Balance’s materials archive, where they hand-selected some of the most interesting textiles and fabrics from previous releases. These premium materials have been employed across a range of the most-loved models – the 1500, 670, 575, 576 and 577 – along with a brand-new silhouette created for the anniversary, the 991.5. Dropping in two sets, this week we’re taking a closer look at the first three models in the collection: the M991.5SP, the M670SP and the M576SP.

First up, the M991.5SP is something new to the New Balance line-up. Combining the classic 991 upper with a 1500 sole unit, this design pays homage to New Balance’s UK manufacturing heritage. The merging of two styles is a difficult thing to perfect, but this shoe really shows just how good it can look when done properly. The materials used on here are from a variety of different sources: sole unit and grey mesh from the 1500, navy tip facing foxing from M576DNW, brown mudguard from the M860CO, the teal fangs and backtab are from the M991BLU, whilst the white PU is from GR 1500s + 576.

The M670SP is a classic New Balance shape featuring C-CAP technology, which provides stability, support and cushioning. This version comes in earthy tones that are perfect for the autumn months – and as a result, it’s a strong contender for the nicest shoe of the season. The various panels on this one include the green tip from the M1300BRP, grey saddle from the M577AIT, green foxing from the M576GCV, navy backtab from the M576NSY, mesh from the M576EKG three peaks and the ‘N’ overlay from the W991RTA.

Last, but by no means least, the M576SP uses similar paneling as the M991.5SP but with navy mesh from the M1500EBN and the grey tip from M1500GYB. The 576 is one of the most-loved models in the New Balance collection and this edition really shows off the shape and layered construction to full effect.
