The New Balance Tokyo Design Studio R_C1300TB Revises the Classic NB 1300 for its 35th Anniversary

The NEW BALANCE TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO R_C1300TB continues the slick stylings of NB’s Japanese design team, this time on the 1300, which celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2020.

The New Balance 1300 model premiered in 1985, launching as a technical running shoe and quickly finding itself championed by runners for its superior cushioning, smart grey colour scheme and slick-looking shape. As one of New Balance’s finest heritage running designs, the 1300 embodies the true spirit and style of the New Balance brand. Taking four core principles – precision, nature, sports craft and protection – the Tokyo Design Studio have gone all-out on this special edition, entitled the R_C1300. Sharing an upper with the original shoe, the newly-designed sole unit combines ENCAP® and ABZORB® technology with Vibram® rubber in a new chunky, more substantial style. As with other releases in the series, the shoe is constructed from surplus materials of premium pig suede, leather and mesh, but the mix-n-match colourways we’ve seen previously have been eschewed for a smart blue and grey combination.
