A Prime Example: the New Balance x Highsnobiety 577 Gets Mathematical

The NEW BALANCE X HIGHSNOBIETY 577 find both forces collaborating for the first time, taking on the popular 577 shoe with a design that is inspired by the Ulam Spiral: a random, graphical visualization of prime numbers, such as ‘577’.

Highly-respected sneaker enthusiast – perhaps best known as Solebox co-founder and SONRA designer – Hikmet Sugoer is the man behind the design of this shoe. Hikmet’s past New Balance projects formed the starting point for the colours used across this special release: the pink panels represent the sum of all numbers, whilst the blues on the inside of the tongue and the heel tab are representative of the smallest prime number (2). The target prime number is perhaps expectedly, 577, with the grey toe box representing the connection between all the prime numbers. The design is part of the three collaborative New Balance 577s alongside Sneakersnstuff and Hanon.
