Nike ACG Dog Mountain

The NIKE ACG DOG MOUNTAIN heralds a strong return of Nike’s much-loved All Conditions Gear collection. We tested the All Conditions declaration with a gruelling excursion around London’s harsh concrete environment. Read on…

As a departure from Nike’s regular programme, the original ACG collection turned a lot of heads when it first launched in 1989, continuing the groundwork of the 1981 Hiking collection. Whilst footwear designs often set and follow trends, the ACG series put function first and then backed it up with a unique set of design elements. Vivid colours, contrasting details and unique fabrications found their way onto a range of often bizarrely-named footwear designs. Disruptive, yes, but memorable with it.

For the SS18 ACG collection, Nike has introduced the new ACG Dog Mountain, named after the hiking trail around the Columbia River Gorge – a canyon in the Pacific Northwest of the United States area. Featuring a rugged outsole, contoured midsole, climbing rope laces and rough suede and mesh panels, this shoe is the perfect continuation of the ACG range. A snug fit without stifling movement, the Dog mountain is comfortable and durable, yet a lot less weighty than you may imagine. Released in Black/Hyper Grape and Emerald Rise/Black, we can confirm that this one looks as good on the concrete as it does in the mud.
