It’s a known fact that during sports the size of our feet can vary dramatically, with basketball said to contract the foot by up to half a size bigger during play. This has posed a problem for footwear manufacturers over the years, with the swoosh, in particular, acting to provide a solution with technologies such as Flyknit and Flywire, and most recently, Tinker Hatfield’s self-lacing HYPERADAPT. The Adapt BB builds on this technology with the court in mind, incorporating an inbuilt motor that senses the tension needed by the foot to fit around it accordingly. FitAdapt then works its magic, and by manual touch or the Nike Adapt app, enables various fit settings to be inputted; whether it be a looser fit for warm-ups or a quick breather during time-outs before tightening up to re-enter the game. Debuting in a black Flyknit and white QuadFit mesh upper with a Cushlon sole unit, it kicks off what could be a long line of intuitive lacing models from the Beaverton brand…
