The NIKE AIR JORDAN 1 FLYKNIT BANNED kicks off the iconic basketball model’s first foray into Flyknit uppers…

Nike tries something completely new with the Jordan 1 this coming fall by switching its usual premium leather uppers and decking Michael Jordan’s debut signature model out in an all-over Flyknit covering. Kicking off proceedings in true Jordan style, the 1985 essential is given the “Banned” colourway treatment, utilising the notorious Black and Campus Red-White palette that was banned from the courts by the NBA on the grounds of flaunting uniform regulations. We all like a bit of forbidden fruit, and realistically, it only added extra fuel to the Jordan 1 fires, subsequently creating a global demand for the now incredibly iconic basketball silhouette.

The Flyknit treatment takes to the high-top shoe perfectly, combining a black mesh-like based with thicker red knitted panels overlaid for lighter on-foot feel. Finishing branding touches are added with red leather Wings and Swoosh, as well as a custom ‘1985’ tab to the inner tongue tab.

The NIKE AIR JORDAN 1 FLYKNIT BANNED is set for release on SATURDAY 9 SEPTEMBER: click the banner below to check the release page with full stockist info.
