The Air Jordan IV is set to own the Summer with new Collabs and Reissues

It’s shaping up to be an eventful summer for the Nike AIR JORDAN IV, with this season paving the way for a KAWS collaboration, alongside three reissues and first buys.

Officially the “coolest” shoe of the Air Jordan family (literally), the IV has long been a favourite on and off the court since its original release in 1989. The brainchild of Tinker Hatfield, it saw the design wizard take a more technical route, stripping back his blueprint for the III to achieve a more lightweight feel.

First up in the SS17 run of Air Jordan IV is a striking collaboration with artist Brian Donnely, aka KAWS. Proving that less is more, the AIR JORDAN 4 RETRO X KAWS features a full cool grey suede upper finished with exclusively designed embroidery. The iconic mesh panel is subbed for hairy suede which also covers the tongue. KAWS’ aesthetic is further injected with co-branding on the hangtags and heels, plus a glow-in-the-dark outsole. The collaboration is joined by three confirmed reissues and first time buys which are bound to generate excitement with Jordan fanatics. We last saw the AIR JORDAN IV PURE MONEY on shelves back in 2006, and its long-awaited return is anything but halfhearted. Boasting an all-over triple white nubuck leather upper with platinum wings, you may want to save these ones for Sunday best.

Inspired by Michael Jordan’s motorcycle racing team, the AIR JORDAN IV MOTORSPORT was originally given to the 16 members of the main man’s racing team. This summer, it will be available to consumers for the very first time, switching up the classic “Mars” colorway with royal blue in place of red. The AIR JORDAN IV ALTERNATE MOTORSPORT offers a variation on the first colourway, with black uppers complemented by grey and royal accents.

The AIR JORDAN 4 RETRO X KAWS is confirmed for release on FRIDAY 31 MARCH, with the AIR JORDAN IV MOTORSPORT dropping on SATURDAY 25 MARCH, followed by the AIR JORDAN IV PURE MONEY on SATURDAY 13 MAY, and finally, the AIR JORDAN ALTERNATE MOTORSPORT on SATURDAY 17 JUNE.
