The NIKE AIR MAX 1 SKETCH TO SHELF pays respect to its creator, utilising the blueprints and preliminary drawings that laid the foundations for one of the greatest shoes of all time.

Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 remains one of the most important shoes in Nike’s history. A game changer from day one, the AM1 (or Air Max 87, as some like to refer to it) introduced visible Nike air windows to the sole, alongside revolutionary contouring and bold colours that have remained relevant decades after its debut release. This new Tinker Sketch AM1 features the original mesh/suede construction and classic white/grey/university red palette, with some interesting details that set it aside from all previous editions. The overlays feature a graphic application with Tinker’s sketches across several panels, with notes and hand-drawn icons on both the tongue and insole. Flip the shoe over and you’ll see a translucent rubber outsole with the original outsole drawing printed underneath. And just to keep the onlookers gripped further, ‘Sketch, Property Of Nike, Not For Resale’ is printed on the sockliner: a perfect sign-off to this rather special edition of the Air Max 1.

The NIKE AIR MAX 1 SKETCH TO SELF is due to drop on SATURDAY 20 JULY: hit the banner below to shop the drop when it lands.
