The Nike Air Max III Laser Blue is a 1:1 Retro of the Original Air Max 90 Design

If the NIKE AIR MAX III LASER BLUE looks familiar… well, it should: this is the original form of the much-loved Air Max 90, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020.

The Nike Air Max 90 is undoubtedly one of the most important pieces in the history of shoe design. That’s no grand overstatement either: this shoe changed the way the world looked at running footwear, inspiring and influencing the entire industry and pushing past the limits of footwear design. Visible Max Air in the sole unit, a functional and durable upper section and some of the most memorable colours to ever hit the streets – this shoe had it all. Whilst Tinker Hatfield has created a vast number of classics, we know that we’re not alone when we say that the 90 is still one of our favourites.

This special tribute edition is a true 1:1 retro of the original Laser Blue release – and it goes in deep on the details. The oversized Air unit is present and correct, with the forefoot bubble and pared-down midsole both keeping in line with the OG. Other minutiae, such as the original-style tongue label, the size stamp on the inside of the shoe and the canvas layer under the footbed, show Nike’s determination to produce a true recreation of the original design. To ensure that everything stayed on track throughout the entire manufacturing process, this release was produced in Vietnam – the same location as the original release. The classic Laser Blue, grey and black colour combination still looks as strong as it ever did, with smooth leather and synthetic mesh uppers and a suede Swoosh to round things off in an appropriate manner. It goes without saying: don’t sleep on this one.
