Combination Fresh: the Nike Air Max 90/1 Hybrid

The NIKE AIR MAX 90/1 takes two of the best-known and most loved designs of all-time and welds them together in a cut-n-shut hybrid which might just find some fans this summer.

Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 design remains one of the most significant designs in Nike’s history. A definitive game changer from day one, the AM1 (or Air Max 87, as some prefer to call it) brought visible Air windows, advanced contouring and a bold colouring combination to the masses. It’s remained a much-loved shoe, maintaining popularity over the decades and making regular reappearances in a myriad of colourways. Much the same can be said for the Air Max 90 as well, which features the iconic ‘mudguard’ panel around the sides of the upper portion. So, on paper, this hybrid combination release can’t go wrong… can it? Well, despite a few initial reservations (should a classic design be open for a remix, or should it be left alone on the pedestal?), this new hybrid design does look pretty good.
