The NIKE AIR MAX 95 CRATER goes HAM on the sustainable initiatives and goals that Nike has been visibly working towards over the past year. Sceptics might expect that this means there’s been a compromise elsewhere – or that the final product is aesthetically deficient – but not this time…
As a credible evolution on the original 95 design, this new edition of the classic runner really is something worth celebrating. Utilising the new Crater Foam material that was last seen on the Space Hippie collection, this 95 is constructed with a minimum of 20% recycled materials. White mesh uppers are topped with leather overlays, which keeps things familiar on the upper section, but the eye-catching speckled outsole is formulated from 15% Nike Grind rubber. First devised back in 1992, Nike Grind is the innovative drive to repurpose shoes headed for landfills into recycled materials that still perform to the levels you’d expect. And far from appearing ‘recycled’, this is a good-looking shoe – definitely, one to watch for.
