The Nike Air Max 97 undoubtedly turned a few heads when it first dropped over 20 years ago. Designed by Christian Tresser, the 97 was thought to have been inspired by Japan’s high-speed Bullet trains – but the truth is that the lines and contours were largely inspired by studying the geometry and angles on mountain bikes. The 97 is one of those sleek designs that gives a true feeling of speed and momentum, especially when seen in its original silver colourway. This newest edition finds the shoe wearing a dark, brooding foundation layer of Black, with vibrant jolts of University Red and Metallic Silver on top: a nice nod back to the original release, perhaps…
