Nike Has the Olympic Podium in Sight with the Nike Air Max 97 Gold Medal

The NIKE AIR MAX 97 GOLD MEDAL continues the recent run of colour schemes on the 97, this time with a timely gold application, just ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Christian Tresser’s futuristic design for the Air Max 97 came from studying the lines and angles on mountain bike frames, with the final shoe utilising a combination of contours and curves that gave a true feeling of momentum. The 97 is largely known for its initial silver edition but it’s proven to be a versatile canvas over the years, with many successful editions and colourways. For this latest edition, Nike has prepared a Gold Medal themed edition ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Games later this year. The construction features shiny gold leather panels across the upper, which surround a reflective streak that goes around the shoe. Matching details come in the form of tonal branding, a smart black lining and the translucent outsole.
