This year’s On Air workshop participants produced a healthy crop of designs, with Korean finalist Gwang Shin’s creation making some serious noise. Inspired by the playground of neon lights that he calls home, along with the Korean flag’s Taeguk symbol, Shin translated these day-to-day influences into a unique version of Christian Tresser’s timeless design; working a black leather base with glossy white, red and blue piping taking to the model’s trademark layers. “Seoul” emblems and an oversized outlined swoosh transform the usual branding details, resulting in an exciting take on the insanely popular silhouette.
