Nike Air Max 98

The return of the NIKE AIR MAX 98 this week has to be one of the best ways for Nike to kick 2018 off. And what’s more, two of the original colourways – University Red and Royal Blue (AKA The Gundam) and Tour Yellow/Midnight Navy (The Michigan) – are in this initial drop, so read on and find out a little more on what’s to come…

For those who aren’t overly familiar with the 98, there’s plenty to get to grips with. At the time of release, the Air Max 98 felt like the slightly-neglected stepchild of the Air Max family. Featuring a familiar shape, perhaps slightly reminiscent of the previous year’s Air Max 97, but slightly bulked-up for a more substantial look, the colours and detailing were perhaps a little too subtle or standardised for those of us who expected something as shocking at many of the earlier Air Max releases. But over time, and with far fewer appearances on the retro calendar, the 98 has stood the test of time remarkably well. We’re excited to see two of the OG colourways making a comeback this week: ‘The Gundam’ (University Red and Royal Blue, almost identical to the original Comet Red and Royal Blue release in ’98) and ‘The Michigan’ (Tour Yellow/Midnight Navy). The 98 appears to have amassed some new, younger fans over the years, so perhaps the older ‘heads didn’t deserve such a solid design back in 1998.

The NIKE AIR MAX 98 in University Red and Royal Blue (AKA The Gundam) and Tour Yellow/Midnight Navy (The Michigan) are AVAILABLE NOW: click the banner below to see the release pages with those all-important stockist details.
