Nike Air Max Day 2017 ‘Vote Forward’: Meet the Revolutionairs

For this year’s Air Max Day “Vote Forward” campaign, Nike are inviting us to MEET THE REVOLUTIONAIRS: a dozen creatives from across the globe, who have been invited to create their own Nike Air Max style. The prize for winning is pretty special: the Revolutionair’s shoe with the most votes will have his or her Nike Air model actually released!

For Air Max Day 2016, Nike surprised us all by allowing consumers to vote back one iconic Air Max shoe of the past for a future release. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock over the past month, you’ll know that concept is becoming a reality in just a few days as the atmos x Air Max 1, the winning design of the Air Max Day 2016 vote, re-releases across the globe. For Air Max Day 2017, Nike have stepped things up a notch and a half: the opportunity to vote on a shoe for a future release is back once again, but this time the candidates aren’t past releases – they’re brand new hybrid designs crafted by twelve individuals known as the Nike Revolutionairs.

The Revolutionair designs, which can be seen below, have been created by Alexandra Hackett (London), Artemy Lebedev (Moscow), Bunyamin Aydin (Istanbul), Celement Balvoine (Amsterdam), Fabikr (Seoul), Kyle NG (Los Angeles), Lourdes Villagómez (Mexico City), Naotaka Konno (Tokyo), Sean Wotherspoon (Los Angeles), Shangguan Zhe (Shanghai), Tianzhuo Chen (Beijing) and Venus X (NYC).

Beginning FRIDAY 17 MARCH, the Vote Forward experience goes live at Nike.com, allowing you to choose the winning design for a 2018 release. Voting ends on SATURDAY 25 MARCH, with the winner announced on Air Max Day: SUNDAY 25 MARCH. Check out the video below to get the Revolutionairs’ thoughts on their definition of Air Max.
