The Tailwind itself deserves a little moment of your time: its place in the history books is secured forever, as it marked an important era at Nike. The original 1978 model was Nike’s first shoe to feature their revolutionary Air technology – a hugely important moment in shoe design history. From those early beginnings, the Tailwind series has slowly evolved over the decades – and the return of the fourth instalment from 1999 has made some waves this season, following the Supreme edition that dropped earlier in the year. There are a good series of forthcoming colourways for 2019 – and this Desert Ore edition follows the recently-spotted Red Orbit colourway with another summer-friendly palette. The lightweight mesh/synthetic upper features ribbed sidewalls and multiple layers for a look that takes the best aspects of ‘chunky’ and ‘sleek’ and puts them to good use. Expect this one to be popular as the weather warms up…
