The return of the NIKE AIR SAFARI might be one of our favourite retros so far this year. With new colours on the way, such as this Cobblestone edition, it’s clear that there’s still plenty of life left in this late ’80s classic.

The original Air Safari launched in 1987 as a running shoe, but with the appearance of a trail shoe or ACG series model, such as the Wildwood or even the Son of Lava Dome. Released as part of the ‘Air Pack’ of 1987, the Safari dropped alongside the Air Max 1, Air Trainer 1, Air Revolution, and Air Sock. Tinker Hatfield wanted to make the Safari design have an air of luxury about it, which goes some way to explaining the unusual but effective use of materials and patterns. This new Cobblestone edition swaps out the original black leather toe-box for a smart-looking mesh in a much lighter tone, perfect for the warmer months.

The NIKE AIR SAFARI in Cobblestone is due to appear very soon. In the meantime, check the current Air Safari release pages by clicking the banner below.
