Available Now: Celebrate Diversity and Equality with the Nike BETRUE 2018 Collection

The NIKE BETRUE 2018 collection continues the brand’s support of diversity in sports with a strong collection of footwear inspired by the original 1978 pride flag. Featuring colours and symbols that have been repurposed by the LGBTQ community, there are two strong elements for this year’s collection: the colour lavender and the pink triangle.

BETRUE started in 2012 as a grassroots effort led by passionate Nike employees. Originally launched as part of the NIKEiD programme, the first collection celebrated Pride month with a Lunar Flow, an Air Royal and an Air Flytop. From there, the collection has grown year on year, bringing important messaging to life with a selection of special limited products.

The prominently featured upside-down triangle has been adopted by the LGBTQ community as a symbol of strength and solidarity, whilst the colour lavender is one of the oldest symbolic references in LGBTQ culture. The hue appears in the four colourways of this year’s BETRUE shoe line-up: the NIKE VAPORMAX PLUS, the NIKE AIR MAX 270, the NIKE ZOOM FLY and the NIKE EPIC REACT FLYKNIT. To complement the footwear selection, there is an accompanying range of apparel, T-shirts, socks, a hat and a heritage hip pack, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
