On your marks: the NIKE BREAKING2 – SUB 2 HOUR MARATHON ATTEMPT PACK

Just in time for peak summer running, the NIKE BREAKING2 – SUB 2 HOUR MARATHON ATTEMPT PACK is set to arrive in June.

Inspired by Breaking2, Nike’s ambitious attempt to break the two hour marathon mark, the sleek and pioneering pack consists of the all new Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%, Nike Zoom Fly, Nike Air Zoom Pegasus. In a bid to transform the athletic landscape, each model in the pack has been rigorously researched, with various innovative design tweaks that aim to propel three chosen runners towards their world record goal on the asphalt of Monza race track later this year.

First up is the project’s concept shoe, the NIKE ZOOM VAPORFLY ELITE. To break down the barriers that the Breaking2 runners Eliud Kipchoge, Lelisa Desisa and Zersenay Tadese will encounter as go up against the clock, Nike have utilised extensive research to radicalise both form and function, whilst also challenging the idea that “less is more”. A high-rise runner that takes on an ankle sock fit, its progressive Nike ZoomX midsole cushioning has a distinctive 21mm stack height, designed to increase the stride-by-stride efficiency of the three athletes as they take on the challenge at Monza, Northern Italy later this year.

Also in the pack, the NIKE ZOOM VAPORFLY 4%  challenges the aesthetic of speed and performance, with the innovative Nike ZoomX midsole providing responsive cushioning to maximize speed and greater energy, making runners 4% more efficient in comparison to other marathon models. A top choice for world-class marathon runners and evening joggers alike.

The NIKE ZOOM FLY then pulls on the principles of its game-changing cousin, The Vaporfly Elite, however an ultra-lightweight feel and Lunarlon foam padding means it remains resilient enough for everyday training whilst also reducing Achilles strain.

Finally, a more traditional looking performance runner then the rest of the Breaking2 pack, the NIKE AIR ZOOM PEGASUS 34 marries Nike Zoom Air units in the forefront and heel to a premium Cushlon ST foam, with its updated Flymesh upper resulting in lightweight feel and increased ventilation.

Each shoe in the pack features Flyknit uppers that come in the project’s stunning red, chrome blue and stealth grey swirled colourway, offering an undeniably snug, aerodynamic fit that minimises drag. All in all, there’s plenty to choose from here.
