Bill Bowerman changed up the game in 1972 when he sculpted the Cortez – which was, at the time, the lightest and most weatherproof running shoe on the market. Snowballing in popularity, it quickly staked its claim in the lifestyle stakes, and remains prevalent on the streets today.
