Only One Day Left To Register For The Nike: On Air Workshops

The AIR MAX DAY celebrations are quickly gaining momentum – and the latest news is that from March 22 to April 15, Nike will be hosting NIKE: ON AIR: a design workshop series that engages participants in the Nike footwear design processes. It’s your chance to create the ultimate Nike Air concept for your city. You don’t need experience: all you need is your imagination.

This series of workshops grants participants to take advantage of a rare opportunity to create the ultimate articulation of one of 10 Air Max icons for their city. Taking place in Paris, London, New York, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo, there will be creative sessions that will encompass the briefing, concept building and mood boarding stages of design.

The day is shaped by five stages of footwear product creation before each participant will submit their Air Max concept to a judging panel comprising of Skepta; Nike’s Senior Design Director Nate Jobe, who worked with Skepta on the NIKE AIR MAX 97 SK; Nike’s VP Creative Director of Colour Design Courtney Dailey, and last but not least, Alexandra Hackett (aka miniswoosh), who took part in last year’s ‘Vote Forward’ project. The panel will select the top three designs from London to feature on the global Nike: ON AIR voting hub, where the world will decide which design best represents the city.

From there, the chosen concepts will be turned into 3D designs that will go to a global vote on the global ON: Air voting hub, similar to last year’s Vote Forward campaign. The most-voted design per city will go into production at a later date, and the designer of the shoe will get the chance to travel to the Nike campus in Oregon to meet members of the product team, turning their imagined design into a reality.
