Michael Lau and Nike Pay Tribute to Sandy Bodecker with the Nike SB Blazer Low ‘Salvator Michael’

The NIKE SB BLAZER LOW ‘SALVATOR MICHAEL’ finds the legendary artist and vinyl figure designer joining forces with the SB division on this eye-catching edition of the Blazer Low.

The partnership between Michael Lau and Nike spans almost two decades – Lau’s SB Dunk Low from 2006 remains to be one of the most original and collectable SB releases ever, with its clever wood-theme aesthetic and exquisite attention to detail. For this release, inspiration has come from a painting done by Lau for last year’s ‘COLLECT THEM ALL!’ exhibition in Hong Kong. Canvas sections have been positioned at different angles to create different views of the painting, with staples around the midsole to give the idea of a canvas frame. The heel design and the special wooden crate-style packaging make a strong visual reference to auction lots.

This special collaboration release is a tribute to the late Sandy Bodecker, who was instrumental at Nike for his development of the SB brand and was the brains behind many of the most covetable collaboration releases. Proceeds from the the sales of this release will go to help the skateboarding community in China, with a launch event courtesy of Concepts China and Fly Shanghai on August 18 in Shanghai.
