The release of the Nike Air Safari from 1987 is undoubtedly one of the most unique and interesting moments in the Nike history books. The story about how Tinker Hatfield was inspired by some ostrich skin he spotted in a furniture store in NYC is the folklore of legends: the resulting pattern has been applied to many shoes over the years, with great success.
