NIKE X LIBERTY SUMMER 2015 COLLECTION

The NIKE X LIBERTY SUMMER 2015 COLLECTION takes us back to the ’70s and utilises the rarely-seen Merlin print that was designed by the London based retailer for a silk scarf in 1972.

The collection celebrates the return of the AIR RIFT. Originally introduced in 1993, the shoe’s signature aesthetic was a result of the brand’s never-ending pursuit to improve athletic performance. Designers working on the project blended technical fabrics, customisable fit systems, and an early form of natural motion design to create a performance shoe worthy of the runners that inspired its creation. For Summer 2015, the unusual aesthetics are complemented by the Merlin print for a very unique look. The collection also includes five other silhouettes that all utilise the print in differing ways. The AIR MAX 90 ULTRA, has a base layer dominated by the print that remains visible under the translucent overlays and is rounded off by a white mudguard and black swoosh. The print also covers the majority of the AIR MAX THEA, CLASSIC CORTEZ and TENNIS CLASSIC. The ZENJI does things a little differently from the rest by going with a predominantly white upper, with the print restricted to the overlay that wraps its way from the laces to the heel. All of the shoes sit on white midsoles with many featuring black detailing or outsoles to tie in with the swoosh.

The collection also includes a small selection of apparel; a WINDRUNNER jacket in all-over print, a t-shirt with a full scarf print hem and print detail sleeves and a cap featuring the print on the peak.

The NIKE X LIBERTY SUMMER 2015 COLLECTION launches at LIBERTY on THURSDAY 23 APRIL and will be available via the banner below. The AIR RIFT drops at select NIKE retailers on MONDAY 4 MAY, whilst the rest of the collection will follow on FRIDAY 15 MAY.
