Over two decades since it first dropped, the NIKE X STÜSSY AIR HUARACHE LE looks set to return this season, following a sneak preview via the official Stüssy Instagram account.
The Huarache remains to be one of Tinker Hatfield’s finest creations, who drew his inspiration from the snug-fitting boots he’d wear whenever he went water skiing. The shoe’s unusual design elevated the Huarache far above the running shoe category, ensuring its place in many collections over the years. Originally releasing exclusively at the London Stüssy store, the Nike x Stüssy Air Huarache LE was a pioneering collaboration project, with Michael Koppelman and Fraser Cooke taking the shoe from its designated running category and applying earthy tones – Desert Oak and Dark Olive – that seemed more akin to the ACG collection.
