Available Now: Customise an All-Terrain Classic with the NikeiD ACG x Pendleton Mowabb

The NIKEiD ACG x PENDLETON MOWABB introduces one of the finest Nike ACG models to the customisation platform, and adds an extra element of excitement in the form of genuine Pendleton wool fabric.

The Nike Air Mowabb, released in 1991, was designed to be the ultimate cross-trainer for the adventurer, no matter what the terrain. Tinker Hatfield’s design represented a new kind of thinking for outdoor equipment, furthered by its unique outsole pattern designed to minimize the wearer’s footprint and reduce degradation to the environment. Taking its name from the city of Moab, Utah, the design advanced ideas earlier realized in Hatfield’s Huarache runner and made an impact on a wholly different surface: urban concrete. To enhance things further on this special retro, Pendleton wool options are a key part of the equation. Pendleton wool comes from sheep born and raised in eastern Oregon on a family ranch that has supplied Pendleton since the 1920s. Pendleton picks specific sheep for wool best suited to the purpose: the raw wool is cleaned and dyed and then pulled apart, spun together, and turned into yarn. The results are hardwearing and durable – and look great.

To help kick off the launch of the Mowabb iD, Jay Gordon from the much-respected Bodega store in Boston, worked on two special (and super-limited: there are only 100 numbered pairs of each) editions. The Arctic is an appropriately stark black-and-white scheme, while the Sunset’s mix of bold colours references the late evening skyline of Moab. The Sunset dropped last weekend at ComplexCon, whilst The Arctic is releasing at Bodega’s store in Boston.

The Mowabb has a core group of fans, so it will be interesting to see what modern-day ‘heads make of this classic trail shoe. From our perspective, this NikeiD edition looks particularly good and should work well in the colder months.
