Paying homage to a footwear icon, NIKELAB VISION-AIRS sees the brand celebrate Air Max Day with a three pack offering designed by upstanding creatives Marc Newson, Riccardo Tisci, and Arthur Huang.
A product of footwear pioneers, the Nike Air Max was originally running shoe. 30 years later, it’s now an undeniably slick and defined footwear icon, with its various models and collaborations capturing the heart and minds of both consumers and designers alike.
Nearing the silhouettes 30th anniversary, NikeLab call on creative visionaries across architecture, design, style, tasking industry leaders Marc Newson, Riccardo Tisci and Arthur Huang with the job of re-working Air Max icons in their own individual way.
Taking on the NIKELAB AIR VAPORMAX, Marc Newson fuses FlyKnit and Air VaporMax technologies to spin an exceptionally lightweight new silhouette that marries a leather chassis and Velcro strap frame to Nike’s Flyknit sockliner, which is finished with a TPU cupsole securing the Nike VaporMax Air unit, giving a sumptuous underfoot feel.
Fashion legend Riccardo Tisci injects traces the 97’s impact on Italian couture and street style with the NIKELAB AIR MAX 97 MID X R.T., which elevates the shoe to new mid-cut heights. Runway inspired, its translucent white outsole takes on a striking contrast against synthetic black leather and gold foil accents for honest and unrivalled style.
Last but definitely not least is the NIKELAB AIR MAX 1 FK ROYAL. No holding back, architect Arthur Huang prioritises innovation in manufacturing, creating a lightweight and understated model that lays claim as one of the lightest Air Max 1’s ever built.
The NIKE VISION-AIRS pack is available SUNDAY 26 MARCH from selected NikeLab retailers. Stay tuned for further release information as it comes in.
