Puma MCFC Collection - Launch Event Recap

Puma MCFC Collection: Launch Event Recap

2019-10-03T19:11:23

The PUMA MCFC COLLECTION looks back over 125 years of Manchester footballing history. We made our way to the launch event to find out what was going down…

Stretching back over a century and a quarter, it’s been a long and winding road for Manchester City with lots of change. This forthcoming pack with PUMA celebrates the club’s foundations and its fans with four timeless shoes capturing the history of MCFC in true Mancunian terrace style. Firstly, the PUMA CRACK AAFC traces back to its days as Ardwick Association Football Club, with the PUMA BLUE STAR KIPPAX then harking back to days when the Kippax was the heart, soul and song of the club. The PUMA CRACK 93:20 skips forward to their first-ever Premier League title in May 2012, before wrapping up with the PUMA BLUEBIRD WHITWORTH, which pays homage to hedonistic parties in the city centre’s Hacienda club during the ‘90s.

We made our way down to the launch event at Eat NYC in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, which featured a display of the four shoes from the PUMA MCFC Collection, a selection of football shirts recreated by author and self-confessed ‘kit-head’ Neal Heard, and an exhibition of portrait photography by Dean Davies featuring the youth team authentically styled for matchday with product from the forthcoming collection. For the die-hard fans, a special panel discussion around style and football was then headed up by Danny Fahey  – founder of the creative leadership organisation, Thirty Pound Gentleman – alongside City club historian Neal Heard and superfans Dan Gambino and Gary James. Check our images from the evening’s event below and get ready for the drop tomorrow…
