Future Meets Retro: On-Foot and Up Close with the PUMA RS-0

The release of the PUMA RS-0 finds one of the most innovative designs of the 1980s revamped and recharged for 2018. Originally created in response to the demand for high-tech running models, the RS (Running System) pushed the boundaries of what was considered possible in the world of footwear design. We took the RS-0 out into the streets to see just how well it handled today’s urban environment.

Stripping the original RS design back down to its foundations has allowed PUMA to focus on keeping things efficient and dynamic from top to bottom: the streamlined silhouette gives a contemporary feel to the shoe, with striped Puma logos on the sides and the signature green hue featuring as accent details throughout. PUMA’s Running System cushioning provides a lightweight and comfortable feel underfoot, with a durable rubber outsole for traction rounding things off. As an introductory model to the revamped collection, the RS-0 gives us a real taste of what’s next from PUMA: this eye-catching design draws inspiration from the past, but resides in the future. Our verdict? The future has rarely looked so enticing.
