PUMA TRINOMIC MESH EVOLUTION PACK – 18.04.14

 

PUMA have become adept at raiding their own archives and giving new relevance to past silhouettes in a crowded footwear market. As with recent efforts – namely the cork-infused Discs and Tropicalia pack – they have experimented with new materials on vintage models to make them more contemporary. Featuring two versions of the Blaze of Glory and two of the R698, their latest offering is the PUMA TRINOMIC MESH EVOLUTION PACK.

By borrowing the lightweight mesh that was recently engineered for their Faas high-performance range, PUMA look to give a more technical edge to what are now considered lifestyle silhouettes. Not only have they updated the looks in doing this, they’ve created a much more comfortable, breathable trainer – these are warm weather no-brainers. The rarely-seen but immensely popular Blaze of Glory gets a white base on its Trinomic sole, with a dash of aqua blue or hot pink on the triangular forefoot wedge. The Faas mesh is overlayed with a mixture of tumbled and perforated nubuck in either black or off-white with those same brights pops of colour here and there. The R698 goes much more boldly with that tropical-inspired colour palette, covering the upper in it entirely and leaving the sole unit starkly white. Instead of nubuck, the R698 is finished with suede panelling. Cleanly done.
