PUMA x SIZE? WILDERNESS PACK- BLAZE OF GLORY & DISC BLAZE – DROP 2 – 2.8.14

 

Remember last month PUMA got together with SIZE? to produce the R698 ‘Desert’ and XS850 ‘Inner City’ as part of the WILDERNESS PACK? Well they’re not quite finished yet. Turns out that this is in fact a quad-pack and we now have the BLAZE OF GLORY ‘JUNGLE’ and the DISC BLAZE ‘MOUNTAIN’ set to drop imminently.

As with the previous two instalments, the Size? designers have focused on evoking the tones and textures of their given terrain through the materials and colourways of each silhouette. Accordingly, the Disc Blaze gets a tough jacket of waxed canvas, which has been designed to throw any nicks or scrapes into sharp relief so as to reflect the harshness of the mountain conditions. Three different shades of green make up the Disc cage to reflect the sense of depth of colour within a hillside forest, while brown hits on the sockliner, outsole and midsole speckles reference the less picturesque matter found underfoot.

Taking on arguably the Formstripe’s frontline silhouette, Size? have gone deep into the jungle for inspiration for their take on the Blaze of Glory. Dark green tones cover most of the upper, with perforated suede, rubberised leather, neoprene and a dual-layer mesh all taking turns to different extents. Imitating the bright warning colours developed by smaller animals to warn off predators, pops of blue and orange adorn the speckled midsole and the heel wrap is smoothly graded from pink to green.

The finishing details on both shoes are excellently coordinated, with each bearing embossed compass logos, custom insoles and 3M reflective tabs, to symbolise a beacon of hope within the desolate environments they represent.
