REEBOK CLASSICS has commissioned a rather special retrospective of the British-founded footwear brand, with help from lifestyle publication The Rig Out.
“Give Me Your Classics and I’ll Show You The Future” is comprised of two parts: an entirely British-made short film, directed by Antony Crook with cinematography by Four Lions director Lol Crawley and a voiceover from Paul Popplewell, and an accompanying book. Filmed in Bolton – the birthplace of the brand – and Manchester, the film looks set to examine Reebok’s roots, its cultural significance within Britain over the years and the residual impact of the brand today. The miniature Union Jack that still appears on Reebok’s frontline silhouettes is an indication of the great importance the brand holds within British footwear history; it’s exciting to see this story be told.
Both media from GIVE ME YOUR CLASSICS AND I’LL SHOW YOU THE FUTURE are set to drop on THURSDAY 4.9.14 and you can check the trailer for the film below. We will bring you a roundup of the launch later this week as well, which includes a Q&A with Joe Foster, one of the brand’s founders.
